Montana State University
Montana State University was founded in 1893 in Bozeman, Montana as a land-grant college. The school was originally started as an agricultural college named Montana State College until 1965 when it was renamed Montana State University. In 1904, the new president of the college, James Hamilton decided the real potential for the school was in mechanics and engineering and began to focus on building that aspect, which still remains today and has built MSU a national and international reputation for its excellence in undergraduate and graduate education in the liberal arts and sciences, agriculture, architecture, education, engineering, health and human development, and nursing.
